Our learning this week – 23rd January 2015

Language, Literacy and Communication

This week Ben and Betty have been teaching us the letter sound “m”. We read the story “Monkey Puzzle” and looked in the book to try and find all the ”m”’s
We did the “Merry Go Round” dance in Write Dance and had to make circular movements with our bodies. .

Mathematical Development

We played with money this week. We put our hand in the lucky dip and whatever coin we got, we put it into the correct purse by matching.

We have been singing along and dancing to 5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed and % Little Monkeys Swinging from the Tree.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

We had some lost animal babies who needed us to find their mummy. It was a bit tricky because the baby animal names are different to the mummy animal names and they don’t always look the same.

Personal and Social Development, Wellbeing and Cultural Diversity.

We read Little Miss Muffett and then talked about why she was scared of the spider. The children talked about whether they would be scared or not.

Creative Development

We went outside and mixed mud paint. We then used large pieces of paper to make lots of muddy marks…lots of messy fun!

We made milk bottle maracas and used them to play fast music and slow music.

Physical Development

We had to change our body movements in time to the tambourine – fast movements for a fast tambourine and slow movements for a slow tambourine.

Welsh Language Development

As well as our daily Welsh board, we have been practicing saying Diolch – Thankyou  – at every opportunity because the children seem to be forgetting! Encourage tham at home to say Diolch.

                      Anything else…

We will be doing “n” next week so have a number hunt at home or out and about.

Have a good weekend.
