Our Learning this Week
Nursery AM 20th June 2014
Language, Literacy & Communication
We have played a phonics game on the interactive whiteboard where we had to find what picture started with the chosen sound – the children were very good at remembering their sounds. We have also been talking about moving up to “big school”. Children had to tell me what their favourite part of Nursery was and what they will try hard at in Reception. We also practised writing our names to put into our annual report.

Mathematical Development
We have been feeding teddy with lots of yummy cakes on the computer this week. We have been recognising numbers and counting accurately to make teddy say “Yummy!”
|
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
We have enjoyed exploring and investigating the playdough this week. Some of the children have been making cupcakes and using lollipop sticks and feathers to decorate them. Great creativity! |
Personal and Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity
The discussion about moving up to “big school” has given the children opportunity to talk about the change. With only 4 weeks left of the term, we will be starting to discuss more about moving into Reception to ease the transition for your child. We enjoyed making our healthy flapjacks – no butter or syrup just oats, fruit juice and fruit…a yummy healthy choice!

Creative Development
We have been drawing pictures of ourselves to go on our reports. We had to remember to draw a head, body, arms and legs to make it look like us. |
Physical Development
Rugby Tots were here for Move-it Monday and we practised throwing and catching the rugby ball. We took part in Dress Up and Dance Zumba which was lots of fun and great exercise. |
Welsh Language Development
We have been using our Welsh board to practice saying what we will be eating at snack time…Dwi’n bwyta….”
Encourage your child to practise at home during meal times.

Anything else!
Please remember to put suncream on your child before coming into nursery during the hot weather. You can also send them in with a sun hat for added protection. Don’t forget to let me know if you are coming in the school trip to Pembrey on Tuesday 15th July – £5 per adult, free for children. |
