Our Learning this Week
Nursery 12th September 2014
Language, Literacy & Communication
Ben and Betty have been teaching us the sound “a” this week. We went on an “a” hunt outside and found pictures of acrobats, antelopes, alligators, and avocados. We found the ants hiding in the sand and only kept the ants which had an “a” or an “A” on it. |
Mathematical Development
We pretended we were astronauts getting ready to take off in a rocket…we counted down from 10 until we were ready to blast off!!!

Knowledge and Understanding of the World
We talked about where different animals lived and sorted the play animals into the correct habitats. We enjoyed making the animal noises as we were doing this. We didn’t do edible cooking this week but the children helped to make play dough for the classroom. |
Personal and Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity
We have been talking about helping each other in the classroom, especially at tidy up time. We have also been discussing other things that make a happy nursery, such as sharing and being kind. |
Creative Development
We printed with apples on big “a” shapes. We talked about different coloured apples and decided to use red and green paint. We used sticks outside to make shapes and pictures. We made arrows, lines, houses, triangles and squares. |
Physical Development
On Move it Monday we listened to songs in the hall that helped us move around like different animals. We skipped like lambs, galloped like horses, waddled like penguins and flapped like eagles.
|
Welsh Language Development
We are practising saying “Bore Da” (good morning) and “Prynhawn Da” (good afternoon) when the register is being taken. We have also been learning to say “Ga i…” (Can I have…) during snack time.
