Our Learning this Week
Nursery 19th September 2014
Language, Literacy & Communication
Ben and Betty have been teaching us the sound “b” this week. It was Tedi Twt’s birthday this week so on Monday the children talked about birthdays and planned what they wanted to do for Tedi Twt’s birthday. We have lots of places to practice our writing and the children have been having a go at writing “b” on the scrimbling table and the white board in the writing area. |
Mathematical Development
We used the bears in the maths area this week. We matched the different sized bears to the pattern cards and we sorted the bears into different colours and different sizes.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World
On Welly Wednesday we went on a bug hunt. We explored under plants and rocks and caught some bugs in a special catcher to put in our bug boxes. We found a caterpillar, a very big spider, a beetle, slugs and a bee. We were very kind and put them back in the garden after we had all looked at the bugs. |
Personal and Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity
We looked at our baby photos and talked about what babies need and how we are different now. We had fun guessing which of our friends was in the baby photo. |
Creative Development
We made symmetrical butterflies using paint and folding the butterflies in half to make the pattern. These beautiful butterflies with be decorating our reading garden. When we came back from our bug hunt we used the play dough to make our own bugs. |
Physical Development
On Move it Monday we played a bean game. We had to listen to the instructions and do the action – Jumping bean, jelly bean, baked bean and runner bean – Ask your child to show you the game.
