Nursery Weekly Update 27th March 2015
Our Learning this Week
Financial Fortnight & Easter
What a busy fortnight we have had in Nursery!
Financial Fortnight has given us a focus on learning about money. We have fished coins out of gloop and looked at the different colours and numbers we could see on the coins, we have sang money songs such as 5 Currant Buns, we talked about shops and what we buy from different shops, and we voted to have a Tesco in our role play area which the children have loved.
For our enterprise we decided to make some spring themed photo holders which the children worked had to paint in pretty colours and patterns. We hope you liked them and all money raised will go towards purchasing plants for our garden ready for Swansea In Bloom.
We have celebrated Easter by looking at a story about how a little girl celebrated Easter with her family, we made cute chick Easter cards and chocolate Easter nests, we sang counting songs with Easter bunnies, and we had a chocolate hunt outside.
The children’s Easter bonnets were amazing so thank you for all the effort that went into making them.
I hope you have a good two weeks school holiday with your little ones and we look forward to seeing you on Monday April 13th.
Thanks for your continued support.
Mrs. Amirat and the Nursery team.

Nursery Weekly Update 27th February 2015
Our Learning this Week
This week in Nursery we have been celebrating all things Welsh.
We have been practising our Welsh animal names for our Eisteddfod song.
We have looked at a painting by Welsh artist Ivor Davies called “Sky”. We created our own version of the painting by mixing glas (blue) and gwin (white) paints to make a blue sky and then we cut out white clouds to stick onto our sky. The results were beautiful.
We have looked at the Welsh emblems such as daffodils, leeks, and the Welsh flag.
We did observational drawings of the daffodil and we did mark making with leeks with was multi-sensory because the leeks had a very strong smell!
We listened to a Welsh folk tale about how the Draig Coch came to be on the Welsh flag. We then coloured our own flag.
We did an emblem hunt in the sand and found lots of pictures of daffodils, leeks, rugby balls and Welsh flags and when we had found them we counted how many we collected.
We also watched some traditional Welsh dancing in the interactive whiteboard and then had a go at some of the moves with a partner. I saw some fantastic dancing.
We finished the week with our Eisteddfod celebration
Dydd Gwŷl Dewi Sant hapus
Why not celebrate St.Davids Day at the free family event at The National Waterfront Museum – all free and always lots of fun!

We explored ways of making 10 with two Numicon shapes to fit inside the three pigs’ house. We made patterns copying the Numicon pattern cards.
|

We asked the children “Who did you like playing with today?” and encouraged children to tell others what and who they played with.
|

We painted pink pigs and made some beautiful pasta heart bracelets and necklaces for valentine’s day. We used special paper to design a new house for the pigs. When our drawing was done we chose what construction set we needed to build it. |
