Our Learning this Week
Nursery PM 2nd May 2014

Language, Literacy & Communication

Our favourite story this week has been “The Crocodile Who Didn’t Like Water” – the children loved the surprise at the end when the crocodile turned out to be a dragon!!

Mathematical Development

We made worms out of playdough and then talked about longest and shortest, longer and shorter.

We counted as a whole class to songs like “Five little ducks” and “Ten green bottles”

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

We are getting our nursery garden ready for Swansea in Bloom by doing some weeding. While doing this we found plenty of wiggly worms in the soil.

We cooked watercress soup and talked about all the healthy vegetables that were used to make it. Some children thought it was very yummy!

Personal and Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity

We looked at the World Wildlife  Fund website and talked about how the money raised from the financial fortnight can be sent to help an animal who needs it. The children voted and we will be sponsoring an elephant.

Creative Development

We drew pictures of ourselves and talked about the different parts of our body we would need to draw – our head, body, arms, hands, legs, feet.

Physical Development

We have been practising some movement songs this week such as “If you’re happy and you know it”, “The animal boogie” and “The wheels on the bus”.

Welsh Language Development

Tedi Twt has been teaching us weather words nad we have played the dress Tedi Twt for the right weather game in our Cwtch Cymreig.

Mae hi’n bwrw glaw – It is raining

Mae hi’n heulog – It is sunny

Mae hi’n oer – It is cold

Mae hi’n wyntog – It is windy

Anything else!

We will be starting our Wow vouchers next week – see the letter that children brought home today. Write down on the Wow voucher if your child achieves something, has celebrated something, or has helped out at home.

Don’t forget, Bank Holiday on Monday, so see you all on Tuesday 6th May.
