Our Learning this Week
Nursery AM 9th May 2014
Language, Literacy & Communication
This week Ben and Betty have been teaching us the letter sound “x”. We read “Fox’s Socks” by Julia Donaldson, where fox finally found his socks in the toybox and the jack in the box. We were good at listening for the “x” sounds and the end of the words. We practiced writing w by playing noughts and crosses – have a go at home. We practised our writing this week writing an invitation to our class assembly. |
Mathematical Development
We practised recognising the Numicon shapes this week and our challenge was to fit the Numicon shapes into an X shape. We also explored the Numicon by building towers with the shapes and pegs.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World
We looked at real x-ray pictures and tried to guess what parts of the body they were from.
We cooked “x marks the spot” biscuits as a treat using chocolate chip cookies to make an x shape on them.
