Our Learning this Week
Nursery 3rd October 2014
Language, Literacy & CommunicationBen and Betty have been teaching us the sound “d” this week.
We practiced making big wavy blue lines on large pieces of paper to let the 5 little ducks swim along when we sang Five Little Ducks. We attempted to draw some letter d’s on the scrimbling table – Diawn pawb! |
Mathematical DevelopmentWe practised our counting by putting playdough dots on the Dalmatian dogs. We had to look at the number which told us how many dots to put on. We looked at over and under outside on Welly Wednesday by putting things under the den and over the den. We sang Five Little Ducks and counted how many were left when one little duck didn’t come back.

Knowledge and Understanding of the WorldOn Welly Wednesday we had a super time making dens for ducks, dinosaurs and dolls. We used sticks, material, pegs and leaves to make the dens. They were fantastic!
This week’s cooking was making dotty dinosaur biscuits. |
Personal and Social Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity We read “Danny goes to the Dentist” and talked about looking after our teeth. We have listened to the Brushing Teeth song on the whiteboard while we have been brushing teeth this week. |
Creative Development We made dotty ducks by holding onto a stick with our pincer grip and making dots on the duck. They looked very pretty when we had finished.
We also made daffodils for our Cwtch Cwmreag after talking about how they are the special flower for Wales. |
Physical DevelopmentNo move it Monday this week, but we have been joining in with lots of action songs every day – “heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”, “BINGO”, “The Wheels on the Bus” We have some groovy movers in our class! |
Welsh Language Development Children sat with Mrs. Stone in the Cwtch Cwmreag and read a book called “Bore Da Doli” and the children joined in with the story when it came to saying Bore Da.

Anything else!We still have some data sheets and home school agreements outstanding so I will be asking for these next week. Next week we are learning the letter sound “e” and will be doing the “Elmer” story. Find out some facts about elephants, such as where they live, what they like to eat, etc, that your child can share with their friends next week. Thanks Have a great weekend |
